Can you see Charles' avatar (the picture under his name, not the one with the signature)

Yes or no - very simple

This is downright silly. Purp had a red X for her signature, I clicked on it and up comes the butterfly. So, emboldened, I tried Charles red X. NOTHING! NADA! ZIP!!!

Grrrrrrrrrrr......

As a sympathetic show of support, I have deleted my avatar.

No disrespect intended to anyone, least of all to Charles, who is like the redneck, backhoe drivin' brother I never had, but I am sick to death of avatars and the agony they cause. Let's get back to Grumble basics: dog fart stories and sexist jokes.

No problem, Ron. Sorry to have been a pain about them. Didn't have anyone else to turn to. If they can see mine now, fine. If they can't, fine also.

Let's be clear about this, fellow Grumblers. Avatars have caused me no agony personally and very little inconvenience. And it is never a pain to share an IM chat or get an email from any of you.

But I've noticed that quite a few avatar posts have the little fire-breathing message icon attached. I think framer provided the avatars as a fun thing. When they cease to be fun, it's time to move on to something that is.

BTW, I hope no one misunderstands my use of the term "redneck" in the earlier post. I realize it's not always a complimentary term  but, in this case at least, it is a term of endearment. Since there is plenty of opportunity for confusion, I think I'll avoid using it in the future, at least on The Grumble.

Maybe my new signature will borrow from Sue May's - something like "Warping The Grumble One Forum At-A-Time."

I have no problem with redneck. Most of us rednecks don't.

Charles,
Your avatar is now visible. I don't know what you did, but whatever it was it worked. Earlier this morning it wasn't there, now it is!

I can see it, too.

It looks NOTHING like a doctor on ER.

Maybe it just took a while for your new settings on the MSN site to kick in, Charles. You realize you'll have to start all over when you switch to Road Runner, right?

Congratulations. All future technical questions re. avatars should be directed to Charles. :D

Thanks, Deb. Just wanted to be sure I could do it. After dealing in Gigabits and Terrabits for 30 years, I felt rather worthless 'cause I couldn't get the darn thing to work.
Think I'll turn it off now. Just wanted to satisfy myself that I COULD figure it out.
Thanks for letting me know....

It was like a total solar eclipse. I viewed it briefly using a pinhole device constructed from B8088 matboard scraps and then it was gone.

I hope nobody looked DIRECTLY at it!

I voted NO.

Should this be of concern?

Probably not as I have Avatars turned off in my profile...
