Not thinking about switching back to IE anytime soon - LOVE Firefox, but I have signed up with a new CC processor, Simplicity, and I LOVE this company and their rep is even one of my Facebook friends and a customer (!) but try as I might I simply cannot log onto their website to view my "paperless" statement.

After trying on and off for several weeks it was finally determined that their website did not work with Firefox and I said, great, I still have IE - I'll just fire that up.

However, every time I try in every way I can think of, Firefox takes over and then the whole process stalls.

Is there any way i can make IE the temporary default browser so Firefox doesn't just ride in all roughshod and take over?

My procedure is to shut down all Firefox browser windows, start IE, and then click thru to Simplicity's new log-in page whcih kicks IE offline and opens in Firefox.

Arrrggghhh!

Any suggestions?

I would really like to see my statement!

I'm guessing that it may be opening a popup or launching a new browser somehow, and with firefox the default, it takes over. If launching IE manually and going to the site doesn't work, then there are other options.

For instance, IE Tab. It allows you to set web address filters to render using IE rather than firefox. It does this inside a tab, so you don't have to leave firefox.

Just be aware that it might not leave IE mode if you go to other sites afterward in that tab. It's best to close the tab when you are done. That may not be the case now (I haven't used the extension in quite a while).

OK - I added that tab, much to the disgust of Firefox, and I restarted FF as advised and now I see no IE tabs.....where should I be looking?

Mar:

Create a shortcut that will launch that website as follows:

Go to your desktop and right click, select New / Shortcut
copy and paste the following in it (replace with the name of your website):

"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" http://www.thegrumble.com

Click Next
Give it a name
Finish

PS: There is a space between the " and http.

PPS: Tested and it worked even while FireFox was running.

OK - just stumbled across a option called IE tab under tools - maybe if I entered the address I am looking for it will be IE's default homepage (instead of the Grumble?)?

Paul - do I maybe need to add something between the "exe and the http? - like a "/" or a "-" or a "_"? I tried a "." but no luck.

Just a space after the .exe"

If you copy and paste the link in that post in the Start / run window, does anything happen?
Does your Internet Explorer work fine otherwise?? Start / Run and then type: Iexplore

OK, I tried the other things, adding the space, etc - no luck.

Tried the iexplore in Start/Run.

Up came the Grumble.

Deleted the G addy and pasted in the one they gave me.

Bingo!

Typed in all of the correct numbers they gave me to add in and they said to call their customer service line because I did something wrong.

Customer service closes at 10pm and they aren't even sure the number works from Canada.

Suddenly they seem inaptly named.

I give up - I am going to ask for a danged paper statement. Kill the dam trees. I have enough trees!

Now, once you pasted the one they gave you, go to top menu in IE, Tools / Internet Options / General tab and click on Use Current.

Next time you do the above, their site is automatically loaded!

Aha - that has got me halfway to my goal - thanks, Pauly! Now my desired site is my default homepage for IE and I can phone their tech support to find out what else I am doing wrong!

You are a DOLL!!!

Try running Windows Update from your start menu. It will always open IE. I have an XP computer that has the same issues and that is how I deal with it. FireFox Browser should be closed before doing so.
