Client asks me to come out and look at something in his truck.

“Can we frame this?”

“Of course!”

This fire hose was scrap left by the fire fighters who saved his house during the 2007 fires in San Diego. The plate at the bottom is a quote from Psalms.

The frame was built and stained by Eric Olsen at Frames Plus. The hose is floated on Raphael’s #838 Bomber Jacket-Seaweed hide, walls to match. All sewn down with 20lb monofilament. Instead of just slapping the plate on the base float, I built a small platform to give it dimension. I thought it might be cool to have the ends of the hose disappear into the walls.

Very nice! Great idea to have the ends of the hose disappear out the sides.

Was it difficult to sew down the hose?
