I'm embarrassed, of all people I haven't updated my website in 6 that's 6 years. On the old site you could view and get a price quote on about 250 moulding. Problem being they were all LaMarche mouldings. The site was not that easy to update so It never got changed. I learned a lot about a different scripting language putting up the new G last summer and decided to try and update the old site using PHP. Sounds like a drug but it not. It also uses a MySql db to hold a ton of data that can be updated from a Lotus spreadsheet that I maintain on my computer.

The new site has about the same number of moulding but I have or can get them finally. Using what I call my "Frame Wizard" you can also create designs with up to three mats or two mats and a fillet and get what I call a price guess. The frame wizard is a work in progress and I put code in to expand its offering shortly but I needed to get the site up now. I also plan additional help in the Frame Wizard to explain how to get a correct quote. You can also select to receive a life size sample of your design, a 19 inch monitor set to 1024x768 is required.

Total time on this project so far over 2 months was been about 150 hours. I'm going on vacation next week and don't plan to do any more work on it till January

Have a look if you wish. Older browsers pre4's are not supported. I may rewrite the old browser code later but the effort required to the reward is very low in my opinion.

Well done, Bill!!

Wow Bill, that looks really nice and is so much faster and more organized than your old site.

I bookmarked your site just for the great listing of museums and galleries that you have compiled!! That is quite a collection of websites and worthwhile to have for research and education.

My monitor is an older 17" monitor and the only page that I had any trouble with at all was the hours of operation. And that was because of how the small print showed up on my monitor and the extent to which it was shadowed. The shadowing overpowered the font and made it almost illegible. (Part of the problem is I have my font size set to the smallest size also.)

You are to be commended for your untiring (?) efforts in scripting this forum and your website. Many would have quit long ago for the pay and perks involved.

I can't thank you enough times for a place to air comments, questions, and complaints (and sometimes just to have some fun!!) that is without comparison on the internet.

So I should'nt feel too bad that it's been 6 months since our last update? Of course our site isn't nearly that sophisticated. It's also hard to find. All in all our website doesn't seem to have generated much. Maybe we just haven't taken it seriously enough. But if you haven't updated in 6yr does that mean you don't expect much from it? Or do you find you are getting response in spite of lack of update? I'm beggining to wonder how useful websites are short of the ability to do direct sales.

I have found that many people use google sorta like the yellow pages, where they enter "picture framing" (or similar) and see what comes up. I spend minimum time and money on mine and have gotten decent response from it.

Bill, the fish eye picture.... how was that taken? Is that your shop, but viewed upside down? And if so, is your floor plexi-glass with framed art underneath? Curious minds want to know....

Dani, it looked like the ceiling to me.

Looks good - only one thing I found though is that on my monitor the lettering is on top of the left hand menu and it's on top of the pictures so it's hard to read and see some of the pictures.

other than that it looks great though!
