This one has been on the back burner for a while but now it's done and out. This is a fun customer to work with and I think some of my best framing has been done for her over the years. I only wish I had taken pictures of more of them. This is Fosters' 803 basswood. I carved the corners, did a couple different things with the gesso(which might not show up so well) and water gilded. The mat is a Falcon "suede" and the fillet is oil gilded, also in 23kt. The piece is pastel.

HOLY CRAP!

Just another one of those Terry Hart thow togethers.... :D

I like the Greek wing Terry. and the Eszual flower is a very nice corner.

Terry,
You should've called this "Finely Finished" as opposed to Finally!!

Cowabonga!! Great work!

That is absolutly fabulouse!!!

I had the same idea as imaluma--however, maybe it would be more conveniant for the customer if you went to them and took pictures? And if you do.......please share with us!

Who are you kidding? And pass up on a perfectly good reason for a very nice digital camera, printer, photoshop 24, a few classes, ...... :D

This is truly custom framing.
Beautifully done.

Thanks for sharing!

I can always count on Baer to tell me what I done. Maybe you better include pronounciation in the future so I can sound like I know what I'm talking about anyway. What the heck is an Eszual flower? The pastels title is "Invitation to Pardise". I suppose thats where the Eszual is found? That would be perfect. Thanks for the kind words and I will try and get pics of some of the past stuff in the future.

The square flower first showed up in some of the Pre-Rafaelite frames....
Sometimes it was used in a way to quarter a Rondral that was inset into the ribbed or ribboned cushion moulding.

I believe it was Johnathan Eszural or Eliza Eszural who came up with it.. but it fit nice in much of the Early Californian / Plaine Aire / Arts & Crafts / Craftsman style frames....that are becoming so popular again.

And of course, they are an American new age adaptation of a Louis XIII..... ie: plain site, smooth panel, rising rear wall with ornimentation in the corners.

And as I said before, Terry; good show!

Terry, how did you learn to create a frame like that? Did you take classes or were you self-taught, or a little of both?

It's so simple, elegant, and beautiful.

Wow what a beauty, thanks for the inspiration. The metal poster framing i have to do this a.m. is not quite so inspirational. Again Beautiful wow.

A little of both Jana. Like most things it just takes practice and patience. I have a lot more patience than skill. I took one class in Atlanta 1999. I had been working with leaf and such for probably 10 yr or more at that time and actually taking jobs for a few years. I probably learned as much that day as in the previous 10 yr. but of course by that time I knew a lot about what I did'nt know if you know what I mean and asked a ton of questions. I'm still learning of course, it can be a very humbleing endeavor, but one thats fun to work at.
