I could have sworn that our fillets all were pricing about the same [$6-$9/ft] just this last spring.
Today I went to price out a 12x13 image with a 3" mat around. The frame came in at $14/ft, and the fillet came in at $14.75/ft.
I checked the prices one several of the same companies other fillets, and they were all in the same ball park.
I then checked the prices on fillets that were similar from 3 other companies and they came back at $6-$9.
The big company would probably tell me "but look how much profit you make with our higher prices". True, true.... but not when the price is so steep that the customer walks.
I shifted the design to a cheaper brand of fillet and a little better frame and the customer was happy.
I need to really watch what I stock. But then again, those fillets make Closed Corners look down right cheap.
