Anyone have a Ferrari logo for the Wizard CMC? I am looking for the stylized word "Ferrari" and not the prancing horse logo. Thanks for any help.

In a quick google search, I found a vector file that could be downloaded for $8. It is an AI file so it would need to be opened first and then saved as a dxf file before bringing it into path trace to set the bevels. Depending on how large you are making it the inside of the "r" could be an issue.

BTW, I think this should be moved to the tech sub-forum.

*EDIT* I also found it for free here http://www.allfreelogo.com/logo-download/103/

Just got in and played with this a bit. I was able to get it designed, but as I figured the radius are just to tight to be able to cut on a bevel unless it made quite large.

I'm hopeful we can get this figured out. :) I appreciate the help and suggestions that I've gotten so far, both here and in PMs sent to me!

As usual, size matters. What size do you need to cut it?

If you need it in small dimensions, you could reduce your CMC's blade depth to cut through only the top paper, so the core color would show in the cut-out letters. After cutting, it is easy to peel off the top paper in the cut-out areas using tweezers.

Or, maybe you could cut it in reverse-bevels, unless the bevels on the back-side intrude on other cut-lines.

Or, if you know someone who has a CMC that straight-cuts (at 90 degrees), it could be cut-through and there would be no bevels to get in the way.

A Valiani user that has a Mat Stylus could draw the logo on the mat in any line-width and color of ink. I guess a Wizard 9000 user could too, unless there are pen limitations.

Jim, can you do hatch fills with the valiani stylus, or is just the outline?

I was thinking maybe 3" high letters, but it's possible to go larger.

And reducing the blade depth to peel off the top layer is something I'd never considered. Hmmm. I might play with that to see what happens.

There is only one other shop with a CMC within 90 miles, and it's a Wizard like mine.

The Mat Stylus will draw whatever we program it to draw. If we need letters to be filled in with ink, we can tell it to draw shapes, squiggles, angled or straight lines within each letter. I guess that's what you men by "hatch fills", right?

We can also change pens, using fine lines for the outlines and a broader nib for the fill-ins.

Another option is to through-cut using one of the straight (90 degree) cutting heads. That makes thinner cut-lines and avoids the problems of bevels overlapping.

Another option is to cut very-narrow V-grooves for the letters' outlines.

Shipping one mat may be affordable, if it's not too big, making nearly any CMC in the USA available to you. I've shipped/mailed small mats for less than $20, to framers on the West Coast.
