I just got off the telephone with Glen Barton of Barton Mfg. Co. in Calhoun City, MS. He informed my that they sold a portion of the business in December (hinges - fastners) and that they are closing down the equipment manufacturing portion.

The best to him and his wife in their retirement.

Sad Day.

They are great folks. I own a Barton wall cutter and a Barton mat cutter. They are both about 25 years old and are still working great. I hate to see them go. I guess the big fish will keep eating the little ones until they are no little ones left.

Their multi angle attachment for saws was a fabulous device, but the book with formulas for multi angle frames was a huge gift to the industry. Surely there would be a very small number of framers who make multi angle frames with out that book. I sold my saw to a RR hobbyist and the multi angle vise to a framer, but kept the book.

you suppose there are some left????? sounds like one of those "gotta haves"!!!!!

Bill,

I bought mine from the Decor library so many years ago that I wouldn't try to remember.

Did they make a sander at one point to? Is it the electric one???Is this the same folks???

I hope not that seemed neat.

I also use Barton's Multi-angle Framing Guide. It's a great book. I have filled it with little stick on notes and have made many referances in it. Math is ok, but it's nice to flip right to what you need. A must for any serious and creative framer. They sound like good people, I wish them the best...
