I've been out of town, teaching classes in Denver for the last 8 days, one-day travel, so I've been out of touch for 9 days. I took my computer but forgot to take any plugs so the battery went down and that was that. Someday I'll get this computer stuff together, but don't anyone hold your breath. I was so tired by the end of hard days, that I wouldn't have been up to much posting anyway, so I suppose it was best I was out of touch.

What a mess has been stirred up on HH!! FACTS lives and that was the goal. In Chicago it was stated that 1,000 framers would not care if FACTS was in existence or not. I said if over 3,000 framers cared enough to spend the time, money and effort to get a CPF, then yes, I was sure 1,000 framers would support FACTS. I was told to put up or shut up, but nicely. I took the challenge. I agree with everyone who says FACTS, in a sense, legitimizes what we are all doing here and is crucial to our profession for many, many reasons.

I want FACTS and all it can do and it must be available to all framers. New framers, plus the fringe ones, need it the most, but their bad framing reflects on all of us. FACTS is a tool for framers and its uses are just being explored. Those of you who had faith and sent checks, just because you believe in the concept, I absolutely applaud you and as the committees set up in Atlanta get going, ways to reward you will be developed.

The manufacturers saw the passion behind the response. No, we did not get 1,000, but frankly everyone but me knew that would be impossible in the time allotted. I was a bit optimistic, but I don't believe I'm overly optimistic in the long run, do you? Are there 1,000 framers who will regularly pay $30 to keep FACTS in existence? I cannot believe there is not. I realize there are many who will not care, but I truly believe there are at least 1,000 who will and $30 is a nominal amount for the return to our profession itself. The passion behind the notes I received with the checks, the scope and breadth of the senders and the posts on HH and TG, proved framers care and that's why the manufacturers responded.

I did say I would send back the checks if I did not get 1,000 and if you want yours back, let me know privately and I will return it. The goal was achieved however; it just didn't require 1,000 to do it. FACTS is saved and over the next year or two, everyone who is a subscriber will be able to get some return for your dollar, but it will take time. I have to put the names and addresses in a database, then the checks will be mailed to FACTS and they will use the funds. The organization is being developed as we speak, or as I type, and none of the money will go to waste. It will be used to hire an administrator, as the committees get ready to do their jobs.

Set back, relax, a job was well done, FACTS lives and that's what we wanted to have happen.

We do have to keep it alive and I need more checks in order to balance the budget and match the amount put up by the manufactures in Atlanta, I just have more time to get to 1,000. Fund raising became my job in Atlanta and I can't do it without your help. (I really don't have time for the job, but I see FACTS as such an important tool to the whole profession of framing, I said yes, when asked, as did so many of you in Atlanta and before) I'll be letting everyone know the many ways help is being provided and I'm sure you all will come up with new ways to get subscribers. All framers need to know about FACTS and how important it is to most of us so we need to keep the message active.

Now I have to run, as I have a whole lot of checks to get into a data base so we can get them cashed and FACTS can go about it's business. If you want to see how the money is being spent, FACTS has a full financial disclosure on it's website as it must to keep it's charitable status. www.artfacts.org. As I said, if you want your check back, let me know right away privately and I will send it.

HELP!! Does anyone know how to get the list of names I've been posting on TG into a data base without me retyping them all? I have filmaker pro and if someone could autimatically get what I've already done in it, that would save me so much time and help my carpel tunnel wrists. I could then add the names I've gotten since and include addresses.
