I'm in the preview phase of setting up my shop's page for Timeline. I have my Cover Photo and Profile Picture set.
Here is my question: I know you can hide or delete posts that you have made yourself by hovering over them and then using the tools in the pencil popup. However, I am also seeing a couple of posts that Randy made in February, like this:

When I hover over the friends icon that pops up in the corner I get this message:
You're seeing this here because it's related to your friends. This page is personalized to show you stories about your friends and the Frameworks Cincinnati page.

Does this mean that I am the only one who will see these, or will visitors to the page see them too? The reason I ask is that there doesn't seem to be able to be any way to remove them, and they refer to my shop being closed. (I haven't "published" the Timeline version of my page yet, but I want to get it tweaked so that I can go ahead and do so before it happens automatically on Friday.)
 Rick

P.S. Nothing personal, Randy, of course. :icon11:

Another question: when our PERSONAL pages go to Timeline, is that just for our profile? Will our Wall still look the same, or will everything look like Timeline?

I am 90% sure you are the only one seeing. I of course saw it on my personal news feed because I am friends with Randy (I may have even commented on it), but I'm pretty sure it will not be on your page.

Although ... He did "tag" you, so it might show up. You should be able to untag yourself. I did it this morning. You may have to be logged in as the business to do that. You may not be able to change it because you are in the preview mode.

Clear as mud?? Let me know if that helps.

I went ahead and shifted my page over to the Timeline format. It seems you are right, only I can see those "friend-related" items on the business's page.
I would love some external feedback on this, and on the page. I actually like the new setup, at least for business pages. (I'll hold off judgment for now on the personal ones.) I still need to look into the whole "apps" setup, etc., but I was pleased with how the Cover banner worked out. I did it in Photoshop Elements. The Profile Picture of the building is the same one I had as my intro picture before, and seems to work well too. Anyone know if there is a way to change the picture featured on the Photos app square?

Looks good!! Love the banner.

I am still seeing Randy's "was here", but it could be because I am Randy's "friend", not sure on that one.

Don't feel bad, I have one friends page I can't get the "about" area to fill in. Always fun.

Yeah, facebook's ever-changing user interface is exasperating. It bugs me that things appear on your own page that you have no control over. Isn't it enough that other people's posts about you appear on THEIR page? Why does it have to show up on yours too, with no recourse? In this case, it's not like it's the worst thing in the world- it's the principle. Still, I would hate for others (who don't know Randy is my friend and that he just happened to stop by on a day when I was away and the shop was closed) to think that they too could find a randomly-closed shop. Everything else on the page is positive, relevant content. I think we should have the ability to remove anything from our page that we don't want there.

(Ironically, I was having a colonoscopy that day, and would much rather have been at work.) (Maybe I should post that.) :faintthud:

LOL ... yes! Post that!! Sorry.

The other day I had a friend posting a photo I could not see for some reason, so she tagged me (personal, not business) in it and then I could see it. I was able to click the little gear thing in the right corner and untag myself. It gave me the option of reporting it, too.

Okay ... check this out, I think you are only going to see it if you know Randy or someone who commented.

I really think the key here is to just use FB and other social networking vehicles on a regular basis and not sweat the details. Set up the pages and then post for business once a week. This will keep you current and give you links back to your web site. Any other benefit is gravy, and I would love to hear about your successes here. FB changes so frequently that I just don't see any use in worrying about what is positioned here or what is linked there. Most potential customers will see your information in thier news feed and not on your Page. This is why I think that regular posting is more important than the minutae of the Page design.

Rick, your banner looks good!

I discovered today that I no longer have a listing for my shop page on the left side of my newsfeed. Only way I can get there is by clicking on my place of employment on my profile.

There is a State of the Art listing with a little lock icon, but it does not take me to my page.

It is a page to add "coworkers" to my page and has a suggestion about smart lists and the following text:

Add coworkers to start this smart list
Going forward, friends will be added to this list automatically when they add this workplace to their profiles.

What next?

OK - my page is listed under "More" and I now have to click on "More" each time to see it. Games, apps and other craps never go away - and I cannot get rid of them. But I have to click to get to a link to click to get to my page? Boo.

Like your banner and page, Rick! I believe Randy is able to delete his comment from his end and then it would disappear off your page. May be worth a try.
