A friend of mine created a page for their gallery on Facebook, they wanted one of the employees to also be a admistrator for the account, but they accidentally deleted themselves as admistrator. Now no one can edit the page or do anything. I have spent about 2 1/2 hours trying to help them regain control but have had no luck. Any ideas, similar experiences?

Sounds like they will have to make an attempt to contact Facebook directly (and good luck with that, BTW) - barring that, start another account with a slightly different name and give up on the first one.

So.. the only alternative to FB being responsive and accountable to maintaining a clean slate of accounts, is a highway strewn with hulks of burned out obsolete, half completed attempts that vary from each other by a hypen, period or re-spelling?

Is this what we've come to when we replaced the paper and eraser?

I'm with you Randy, I haven't been able to crack into my own website for over a year.... nobody knows why, as even the ISP and host has tried off and on for the same year. It would open or die.

Can't help with FaceBook; I gave up on it for two reasons; I could never "get it" as to why I should waste time there, and it mostly produced spam for me.

However, my rear has been saved a few times by a password program, that saves and stores logins. 1Password is the one I'm using.

If they created another admin, the 2nd admin should be able to go in and add back the original admin.

Or as Mar said, take off and nuke it.

I think the only was to erase is if every person drops it. Then it will cease to exist.

Here is the deal, when you create a Facebook Page for your biz, band or whatever you are automatically the "administrator". Well over the time some of the people who created the pages where not the owners but employees and when the employees left the company they where still the administrator. So FB made it possible to make others administrators and then later made it possible to "remove administrators" even if they had created the page.

Fast forward people are now accidentally removing themselves as administrator before making someone else an administrator. That's when you can no longer edit or advertise the page and have no control over it. FB can not make a quick fix or else it would be super easy for anyone to take over a page.
