I have seen some framed prints from the USA with some really nice matbord finishes. Such as black lace, and taffeta finishes. Can someone please tell me who supplies this type of matboard or would one of you great people be happy to sell me some and send it to Australia.

We do not have anything like that here.

Thank you
Cathy

Cathy, would UPS ground be okay?

I think there are specialty boards for the pre-framed art industry that most of us never see. It doesn't sound like you saw Bainbridge, Crescent/Miller or Artique.

Without seeing to what you’re referring, it doesn’t ring a bell, but it’s possible that some of those mats were fabric wrap “add-ons”. We’ve only fabric wrapped mats a few times (the weird range of Crescent and Bainbridge mats is generally good enough for us).

If you really like some of those unusual/unique looks, you might try making them yourself. Fabrics.net seems to have a pretty good selection of stuff you could use to make your own.

I always thought that taffeta was a kind of tooth wrenching candy you buy at the seashore. Go figure!

You may be talking about Specialty Matboard near Atlanta, Georgia, USA. I have the address at the shop but maybe someone else can help you find the info.
I always loved their patterns but you have to have a minimum order of one box, tho may be more now.
They were included in Crescents line for a few years 2-3 years ago. Just long enough to get attached to some patterns and then have them discontinued.
One drawback was that they are all paper mats, but you could always just use them as top mats.

Specialty Matboards info is:
1830 Hwy 431 N
Boaz AL 35957
800-280-MATS

Their sheet price runs around $4-$6 per sheet and is not acid free and a case of 25 sheets can be mixed and matched.

Hi Cathy,

Welcome to the Yank Grumble!! I didn't recognize your login until I did some digging concerning your "BPF" designation after your name!

(I got to thinking, BPF?? Better Picture Framer? Blonde Picture Framer?? I didn't connect it with Belconnen until I peeked in your profile!!
