I thought I'd share my first project using the really easy EZ-Tach.

This is a necklace that belonged to my great grandmother. My great grandfathers watch fob is at the locket fastened to the necklace. Both grandparents are in the photo. The dark brown portion of the necklace was braided from my great grandmothers hair. Braided Necklace

I used the EZ-Tach at six points. The clasp, top center. Two places on the chain, above the upper left & right corners of the photo. Where the chain is fastened to the braid. One above the watch fob. I used the plastic fastners. What is nice about these is only one hole is punched at the fastening point. The fastener is threaded from the back, through the hole, over the object and back through the hole. The fastner is simply wraped around itself between a washer and the backing board until just enough is left to push the "key" into the "lock". Even with fat fingers like mine it was so much easier than tying thread.

Thank you Pat K.

It is indeed beautiful, but am I blind? I don't see a watch in this picture. Is it what looks like the pendant on the necklace?

Sorry Betty, there is no watch. The pendant on the necklace is from my great grandfathers watch fob.

Very nice and thanks for sharing - been on the fence for the purchase of EZ-attach... might have to take the leap!!

We use the EZ-Tach and MicroTach. The products work well but in my opinion their of pretty flimsy design. For the money you pay for them one would think they could make something a little more rugged. It is very easy to bend the needles if you are not careful. We do a lot of memorabilia and the durability just isn't there for the investment. Unfortunately that's all that it out there. Build a better mousetrap...

I have not found that to be true. I have only bent 1 needle the whole time I have been using the guns, that was my very first one. I wonder what kind of substrate you are using. I use RC3X board to mount a lot of things, however, I would never try to push the MicroTach needle through such a board.

I also have found that if you are somewhat gingerly, you won't break the needles. Jabbing and stabbing doesn't work, but coaxing does. We try to be careful and it's worked. I salvaged a job today with the Micro-Tach and I'm pleased with the whole product.

But (oh, Lord, I'll be sorry I said this) I'm a girl and I'm more careful. (ducking now) 'course, I'm also assuming boxer1 is male. another ducker deal.

Jerry, If you can't shove it through 3X board (and why do they call it "sex" boardd?) then what can you shove it through. Most of the time we are mounting "things" on gater with fabric.

I haven't used the EZ-Tach. When I use the Attach-EZ, and I'm not in the mood to follow directions and avoid bending needles, I take a box of push-pins and secure the object in place on the mounting board. Then I pull them out one-at-a-time and insert the fasteners through the existing holes.

If you don't think that's still saving time over stitching, you're a much faster stitcher than I am (which is entirely possible.)

I believe the instructions explain you're suppose to twist the tool as you gently apply pressure to avoid bending the needle.

"Instructions??????"

Just kidding...

All I'm saying is that for the price of the product I expect that it should be durable... and the bottom line is that it isn't. It's a good idea that needs to evolve. That or I need to get MerpsMom to do it... because she's a girl ya know... and girls are more careful.

Great job, Denny. (wow, the brown is your grandmother's hair??)

So, panel of experts, (I'm serious) if you could only have one, would you want the EZ tack or the Attach EZ?

(until this thread I did not realize they were different animals.)

Gumbogirl, Attach EZ, the micro gun with the 1/4 inch tags. EZ Tach does not need a tool to make it work.

Just some info for anyone paying those crazy prices for the "tagging" guns being offered by Framing Companys. I bought my "Tagger" about 7 years ago and still haven't needed to buy replacement needles or clips yet. They actually give you the gun for free when you purchase the plastic 5 boxs of clips(5000 per box). About 20.00 worth. I buy white clips and then use markers to color them to match whatever I'm tagging in place. Here's a link to the company I use. http://www.abctarget.com/index.php?page=list_prods&catid=20&subcatid=11

I went to the above site and the smallest tags (fasteners) listed are 3/4 inch and the fine fabric and standard guns (taggers) and needles. The tags I'm referring to may be smaller than 1/4.

I think the smallest tags are 3/4 inch. I usually just pull them tight and tape them in place with some linen type tape. I like the extra wiggle room it affords you in setting the item better and you can't beat the price(free).

Artrageous and Jpete ,Maybe if you purchased the original set up from Artrageous's displayed company and then bought replacement T-tags from ,say United or M&m, the replacements might just work in the original Gun and ,it seems you can buy replacement needles from either and they might fit both also?
Just an Idea.
