I am on my 2nd LF printer, an Epson 9800. I have used it for about 7 years and have done some maintenance myself. But now, I am getting clogs often in the Cyan, Magenta channels. I am considering changing the "dampers". Anyone tried this on their own?

I know this is risky, but sometime I like to live dangerously. I have opened it up an changed the wiper and cleaned the cleaning station successfully. I purchased the dampers, but not installed them. Anyone?

I just took apart the 4900 because I considered it not worth fixing. Because you already purchased the part I'd say yes but only after you get a copy of the service manual and see a youtube video of it being done. Most of the video are of that era machine. I found major differences between 4800 & 4900 series machines. I seen videos and it seemed doable on the 9800.

good luck
