I've been trying to send an email to a fellow grumbler. I've hit reply, and I've also typed in the email address. Both times the message comes back.

Here's the message I get

"
<smtpbyuser XXXXXXXXX@aol.com XXXXXXXXX@aol.com 99>: ...\
expired after 1 min, problem was:

<<- .
->> 421 SERVICE NOT AVAILABLE "

421 usually happens when your ISP's servers are having problems.. Can you email anyone, or are you just having problems with that one address?

Yeah I've been getting email, sent others out, but can't send to this address.

Maybe I'm being blocked? I promise I've been a good emailer! No attachments or anything!

Then I would assume that it's their ISP that's having the problem..

after Googling 421, it seems that's a standard mail server reply code. So yeah, that person's mail server is saying that it's trying to comply with the request, but for some reason it's failing. Usually if it's blocking you it'll tell you why... 421 just means its borked.
