Some of you remember that I've been unable to get any notification of answers to my posts since I got my Mac. Would you help me out and do a response to this, I've changed the email from Cox to a Yahoo account -- hopefully that will resolve the problem, thanks.

IT WORKED

Thanks so much, don't know why my normal cox account won't accept the Picture Framers Grumble but at least now I can get responses to any questions I have. PTL -- now just have to remember to check the Yahoo account but even an old dog like me can learn a new trick or two!

Large email providers (AOL, HOTMAIL, COX, and even sometimes YAHOO and GMAIL) have over aggressive spam filters, which will often "eat" automated emails that look similar to others. They intercept and file them away prior to your INBOX.

It's best to use your frame shop's domain email for the forum (ie: johnnydoe@getthepictureframing.com) when possible. This way, you control how aggressive your spam filter is.

A lot of people have issues with this, especially for the initial verification email that lets them post on the forum.

Curious, Couldn't you just add the domain to your safe sender's list? Or is that not an option with these other providers?
(FWIW: I only use yahoo and hotmail)

Email

Very interesting, as I went to the forum from Paul's message I noticed a few more that didn't give me automatic reply emails! There doesn't seem to be a way to get safe sender and like someone mentioned, the problem could be Cox having an aggressive spam killer! I'll check my cookies settings (if there is such a thing on Apple) but at this point I'm just happy to get some response. Oh yeah Paul, I have been known to be obsessive -- aren't all artistically inclined folks!

May be Hope

I think I found where to put the grumble address into my mail program. Question I have now is how do I find that address? I really am technologically challenged.

If it is cox.net, putting it in your computer's email software won't make any difference. The spams are being filtered out at the SERVER level (in the Cox data center), not on your computer.

With systems such as AOL, adding it to the friends list may help.

The forum has some great features, also. You can "subscribe" to threads, and you can new the NEW POSTS button up on top. This shows you only the new posts since your last visit. That's exactly what I do, to keep up with the forum.
