Android 2.2 is great but they really mucked up the email client in 2.2. Enough so that I want a different email client. Any recommendations?

What I don't like is that I can't turn off automatic downloading of my emails. Before 2.2, I could set it to download ONLY when I request a download.

With 2.2 you can't do that. You can narrow the number of times it downloads automatically but you can't turn it off altogether. I get thousands of spam's a day and filter them using other means. I don't want my 'droid cluttered up with them. I hate waking up and find several hundred spams on my 'droid.

Any of you use a different email client on your 'droid?

I consolidate several accounts using Gmail ... the supplied default email client on my Samsung Captivate ran too slowly (sometimes not at all) and I could never get to the bottom of why ... Gmail works quickly

I also have a gmail account and a separate client on my 'droid for gmail. I need a client separate from the gmail client. I keep my gmail client live as I receive no spam from gmail.

I send my self a copy of all online orders to my gmail address when orders are received so I always keep my gmail live and live for the refreshing 'ding' meaning I have a gmail ( and likely an order).
