Fotiou 1412GO

Or try stacking CMI 3941 over either Arquati 600-000-255 or CMI 3853

Here's the Fotiou:

Here's the CMI/Arquati combo (sat around a steep hand-wrapped liner/mountboard/float)

Only one of the bunch that wasn't an Italian or German design. I'm proud of you Paul, you were paying attention in class.

:kaffeetrinker_2:

So, other than "tourist kitsch" repetitive patterns, what exactly do you consider "Egyptian style"?

Tut gave us the pea & Corn pattern with alternating color blocks in a gold boxing, and then there is hieroglyphs . . . other than that you would start talking Masidonian or Mesopotamian patterns for anything from that region.

Gothic patterns have their birth in the mechanical drawings from the bored scribes of the Grand Bazaars...

I dunno - I like the Fotiou myself. Seems like if the Egyptians had used frames they would have liked that too.

I would love to see a nice lotus pattern on a frame - scarabs in the corners, winged disc in the middle. Yah boy!

Snafu, is it for a papyrus? I'd put different things on it
depending on the size of the piece.

I'm sure that is exactly what Cartier was thinking when he was designing the Peacock Heart pattern . . . shortly after the turn of the 20th C. :kaffeetrinker_2:

But then, Mar, you always did have great taste.

How bout the papyrus bundles used as motifs on columns,or lotus blossoms....But then again what do I know,I lean toward Sythian...L.

Awhile back I did a big papyrus with a dark wood frame.
Added a gold fillet liner that complimented the artwork.
Nothing Egyptian about it, but it worked very well.

Very nice Peter, great to see you finally found a use for that old cloth you picked up in Turin with that nasty stain. You must have hidden the stain behind the picture....

So you're saying that when the grout sets up faster than you can get the tiles placed.... just blow a glaze on it and fit it?

Sun is out

Temp up over 60 degrees

WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON THE COMPUTER?!?! You should be topless!!!

But back to the grout... I misspoke... looks a lot like the acrylic mastic...

I don't care if it is an Egyptian style or not. My customers like this on their papyrus. Omega 79779

Actually..... It does look like the image is floated, but it's all in one flat piece. It's a sort of barky stuff that the image is painted on.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the top pic, and bottom pic, two different profiles? I've used them both.

The top one is flatter, and has that compo inner section. The bottom one is much steeper and has no inner part. Both identical in finish.

...and I love the idea of them working with Egyptian art!

OK, I'm going to buy the part with the gold & black bands..... kind of like the torque.. but is the grey field supposed to desert sand? Bluuah! :vomit:

Still like the stylized lotus and scarab thing, even if it is a bit Theatrical.Make your own embellishments:D. L

That's beautiful, Laura. I'm guessing that those
are Scotch thistles?

Stylized Papyrus "flowers"....They were used quite a bit as decorative elements.Egyptophile here...... L.

Chris:

I believe it's the same line and come in 3 different finishes.

I honestly don't remember the exact moulding number of the bottom one, but found the closest one in the catalog.

LOL....sometimes I'm just the biggest dork ever.
Of course they're Egyptian, this being the Egypt
thread and all. But I thought maybe it just to
show such decorative elements.

About floating papyrus. I have to say that I am
THRILLED to have learned how to hinge with mulberry
paper and rice starch. Before, I was never quite sure
what to do with the dang things. Now, I float mount
them, using the method that keeps it from warping
in the future, and am so happy with the results. It's
just one for thing for which I am thankful to Grumblers.

I forgot I had this little one on my website - it is a combo of an antique molded metal frame from the thirties and a wood frame onto which I added a rudimentary pyramid and the vintage green glass pieces.
