Eclipse and DXF files

We just took delivery on our Eclipse and was wondering how other Eclipse owners were getting DXF file into the software. I'm having the problem of some arcs turning into circles in the oposite direction.
An example is to export the golfer clipart out as a dxf, bring it into a Cad program, mirror it, change the direction back to clockwise, save it as a dxf, open the mirrored dxf in Eclipse. Some of the arcs are now circles.
This happens on new files created in almost all my Cad programs
Has anyone found a solution to this?

Have you checked to see that your corners (the meeting points of 2 lines) end exactly at the same point. If they do not they might be extended.

I am using the golfer clip art from eclipse and just mirroring it. Eclipse says they are aware of the problem and are working on it. They can not bring in HPGL files because of the same problem.

I was hoping someone else was importing dxf file and had a fix.

Ah! The old programing glitch.

I know the bevel will be reversed, but, have you considered cutting the design from the front vs the back. It will take 2 cutting steps and 2 design layout calculations.

David;

Are you still interested in solving this problem?

My name is Mark Eaton. I am the Engineer that created the Eclipse and MatWRITER mat cutters. I also have 20 years of CAD experience. I no longer work for Eclipse. I could not answer this question at the time of the post due to a non-compete clause with Elcipse. My non-compete clause has now expired so I am now able to re-enter this market.

First let me say that I did not code the DXF or HPGL translators but I do know how to tiptoe through the mine field.

The quick and simple answer is to break the offending arc into smaller segments of 90 degrees of less. If this does not fix your problem please provide me with the following information: what CAD program and version are you using? How much experience do you have with CAD?

HPGL works as well but has its own seperate issues.

I would be glad to provide more details if ther is still interest on this topic.
