OK - so I cut my first Moorman Suede mat on my media cutter and had problems getting a straight line. Seemed like the blade wanted to bend as the cut progressed from top to bottom. I'm guessing maybe a thicker blade is needed. I'm not positive the dimension of the blade I've got, but I've been cutting Crescent Ragmat and acid free foam core board with it (no problems, though the foam board is a lot easier than the ragmat. When I figured out what I was doing I made my straight cuts with my Framers Edge 650 and everything worked out fine. Just wish I would have figured it out sooner - expensive learning curve.
Thanks for any advice.

Media cutter is a very general term. In order for anyone to respond to an easy question some details are needed. Let us know what piece of equipment you are using.

Are you sizing the board on a wall cutter? Are you cutting openings in the board?

Give us a clue and we will speak up.

I guess details would help, duh! oops. OK _ so I'm using an Onyx 90 media cutter. All I was trying to do was size the boards to square dimensions, to then cut bevel window on Framers Edge 650. I have cut probably over 70 Ragmat boards with it, and many foam core. I change the blade normally after making 6-8 full length cuts on the matboard. After the first cut on the Moorman, I thought it was dull blade, changed out blade and second cut did the same thing. Put the Moorman on my Framers Edge 650- for the straight cuts, fine - no problem. Borders cut very nice, it was a fun one to do, as it was a diploma from 1951 that the gentleman had kept in a folder for 57 years before deciding to have it framed (better late than never).
Thanks again.

Sometimes on tougher mats I tend to put more body behind the cutting head becouse it's harder to pull. This tends to twist the cutting head as I pull, and slightly changes the angle of the blade thus making an uneven cut. Make sure your "posture" stays the same while cutting.

Sounds like the head needs to be adjusted/tightened. Not many of us use the Onyx so you just need to look up the adjustment or most companies can talk you through it in a couple of minutes or less.
