PFG, Picture Framing God
I just finished a fun job. My customer came in with a piece of sheet music from E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial signed by John Williams. They wanted something a bit special (don't you love hearing that).
I suggested incorporating the Moon and Silhouette from the movie. The only problem was how, we wanted it to look classy and not juvenile and to not take away from the sheet music.
Mats and Frame:
The mats are Artique 4906/4905 with a spacer between and a LJ Ferrosa frame and CC glass (I wish they would have gone for MG on this one).
The Moon:
I printed out the moon from a google searched image to just over the size that I needed. I designed the mat in the Wizard software and joined the open V-Grooves in Path Trace. I also saved the Moon cutout separately. I cut the Moon cut-out in a sheet of scrap mat-board not cutting out the exterior. Then I mounted the photo to another scrap of mat-board. I took the first mat and laid that on top of the mounted photo and traced the exterior. I trimmed the mounted photo to this line and then cut the mat opening again on the mounted photo. This allowed me to get the position of the moon correct and have a clean cut.
E.T. and Elliot on their Bicycle:
This was the fun part. I wanted them to feel like they were flying. I decided to use my vinyl cutter and attach them on the inside of the glass. I downloaded an image from the movie poster that I found on Google. I cleaned up the image in PhotoShop and made the outline into a path. Next I opened the file in Illustrator to turn the path into an outline that my vinyl cutter would read.
