I would like to know the best product to use to mount a poster. I do not have the space for a drymount press and I am currently using perfect mount. Sometimes it bubbles after a few weeks. Does drymounting guarantee against this.

have you considered farming out your drymount jobs? Some considerate framers will do this at either a discount, or even barter for services that you may be able to provide

Dry mounting is the way to go! Good recomendation from the new guy. We dry mount most of our posters, but occasionally farm out extra large sizes to a shop that has a huge dry mount press.

For images that do not require conservation techniques, dry mounting is certainly the best way to go. Using drymounting tissues, you can ensure that you have consistent adhesive coverage from corner to corner on the poster without any missed spots (using adhesive sprays or wet glues). All you have to ensure is that you take into account the correct time, temperature and moisture components for drymounting and you will come up with a perfectly mounted poster every time!

If you do have someone else do your drymounting, PLEASE, make sure they will guarentee their work. I used an other company (who is now closed) for oversized work a few years ago, and they totaly ruined a poster. Their order forms said they guarenteed their work 100%, however when I asked them to replace the poster they "informed" me that the guarentee was only 100% of the work price (not the art).

As the old saying says "Buyer beware!"

PS. I now own an over-size drymount press.
