Just curious as to how many of you other framers will dry mount wedding photos. I know it is do-able, but is it the best way to handle these photos? Or am I just being overly worrisome about the mounting being irreversible?

We work with many wedding photographers. They ALWAYS have us mount their images or get them mounted from their lab if I didn't do the printing.

Other then the small potential of damage during the mounting process I would mount them. I also believe that a mounted photo is less likely to touch the glazing then an unmounted one when framed with matting.

I agree ...speak to your customer about it ahead of time. You can always mount them on Retore if it's a concern.

I don't. Granted most of these wedding photos are kept on discs so they can be replaced - that is, of course, if the customer received the disc and/or if the photographer/lab stays in business.

The only thing I dry mount these days are larger, inexpensive and replaceable posters/prints. 95% of my work is reversible.

Geeeeese Paul!

The mounting will last far longer than the marriage, keep that in mind.

My goodness Paul! You talk about the mounting lasting longer than the marriage. Then we read your quote about the end of the world.........ooooooph!

I thought there was more sun in San Mateo than that! :)

Sherry Lee, I had a new customer come in a few weeks ago, and I was talking with her about my finished corner frames, how they would be perfect for framing a wedding portrait, and she said "oh, my marriage isn't worth that kind of money!"
