I'm not sure if anyone has had issues with this or could possibly help.....

My front shop window is double pane glasse about 9ft wide by 7 ft tall......

Its soooo hazy..... and hard to see into the shop!!!
It looks to my like moisture has gotten between the 2 panes of glass......

Anyone know how to fix this? I have a strange feeling thats its NOT going to be an easy fix!!!!!

Double pane windows are vacuum sealed. Once the seal is broken it needs to go back to a window manufacturer. Smaller windows are cheaper to replace than fix. Call a couple of window places and see if they recommend repair or replacement.

Oh...... and it looks like they caulked...... and re~ caulked..... and re~caukled the edges.......

SO what your saying Jeff...... is this is something I SHOULDNT add to the honey-do list......... grrrrrrrrrrrrrr :icon45:

fogged unit

if it is a thermopane and it's fogged the only thing to do is replace it. the seal between the 2 pane is broken. once the moisture gets inside it can etch the glass. on some units it depends on the time of year if you can notice it as much. we had two units on the front of the shop that would only steam up in the winter. depending on the type of unit it can be anywhere from $900 to
$1200 very easily.

WELL, about 5 years ago there was a BAIT SHOP in this space....
and he had tanks and whatever....... so it has been like this since I have had the place.....

I guess if I want it replaced....... I'll have to talk to the land lord about it.

Insurance?

Did I just see some random juvenile delinquent throw a rock throw the window...... :)

Did they throw it thru it?

I agree here, this is actually something to put on your child vandalism list.

Your insurance may still cover it or at least the owner should replace it as they are responsible for stuff like this. (yeah, right! Like THAT will happen!)

If it is replaced, it might be better to have it done in a couple of sections because of price. Maybe a large center section and smaller on either side.

Yah I guess I can call for a quote..... maybe I can swing the "I'll pay for the new window if I dont have to pay my rent this month" Kinda deal...... :D

Pat I have 5 5 foot by 7 foot single pane glass windows on the front of my shop. I think if I was gonna go for insurance fraud I wouldn't joke about it here :)

If the floor here was insulated I would look into replacing the single pane with double or triple, but right now that heat loss from the windows is the least of my heating woes...

I'd ask for the floor to be insulated but then the river running through it would need to be addressed... A little more water than a 6 mil moisture barrier can handle :)

Well....... I measured the window.... called my local glass/window people just to kinda get an idea.......

$ 950..... just for the double pane glass...... uggggg :icon9:
I didnt even ask what it would be installed...
Of course they want to come measure it themselves.... :faintthud:

This should be an issue to take up with your landlord.

Can you determine who manufactures the window and how old it is. Some window makers guarantee their double pane windows for 5 or 10 years.

I had this problem in my home and I replaced 80% of the windows the 10 year warranty.
