I need to cut a double open V- groove on the wizard. While I've cut single ones before, I have never attempted a double one. For the single one, I stopped the wizard after each cut and taped things in place with some 811 tape. Getting things assembled, and aligned was quite challenging, as pieces are very narrow and hard to handle, and also distort easily, etc.

So, any words of wisdom as to how to best go about doing this with the least amount of grief?

Do the same thing, babysitting the mat as it's cut and taping the pieces in place with 3M811 tape.

Then once everything is cut take the bits of tape off the back and reassemble all cut pieces face-up. Use 811 to put everything back together, this time working from the front. If you're careful it will be like the mat was never cut.

Flip it over face-down and apply the ATG to the back of the mat and attach it to the bottom mat. Then remove the 811 and all the little bits you don't need. Perfect alignment every time.

Thank you Dave! I had not considered flipping the mat over and putting 811 on the front. What a great idea! To be honest, I had not known about the removable 811 up until a few weeks ago. I read a suggestion to use it to paint bevels. You apply it onto the front of the mat, cut through the tape and burnish, and it provides for a perfect mask for painting bevels. 811 is wonderful stuff, and so far I have not damaged any mats using it. I will run off a practice mat tomorrow, but the method you describe sounds almost foolproof. I just wish I would have thought of it:) Thanks so much Dave!
