As a recent convert to the world of Wizard use, I'm still on the uphill side of the learning curve. All the features built in to the software make for a lot of detail to pay attention to. That's why the obvious details of real-world physics sometimes take a back seat.
Today I had a job for a simple horizontal mat with two vertical openings the size of a newspaper front page. Got the setup designed on screen, no problem. Hit "cut"- bingo. Two beautiful openings sized and spaced just the way I had planned. Unfortunately, I had failed to make sure the matboard was seated squarely into the clamp rails, so the pair of openings is skewed within the overall size of the mat. D'Oh!
I know, this could have been avoided by having the machine cut the outside edge too. However, I had a piece of the color in stock that was big enough if I sized it myself. Of course now I'll have to order a new sheet anyway.

Rick,

Sorry to hear about the mishap. I've done that myself a couple of times. Funny how sometimes we can look at every detail and go over everything twice, and forget one little thing.

Well like they say: Physics: It's the law!

---Well, actually, the saying is "Gravity: It's the law!" but it wouldn't have had quite the same punch...

Paul, what's the kisting option???

Yes, I have. Didn't see that in there anywhere. I even looked it up in my dictionary, and googled it....nada. Me thinks you're pulling our legs, and that it's one of those Paul-isms.

Heh. You got me. I completely made it up, to see if I could get a bunch of people running to their Wizards to search desperately for it.

Make me buy you a drink at next year's WCAF!

HA! I figured as much....I'm getting to know you pretty well, eh??
Ya did make me look, though!

Don't know if I'll be going to WCAF next year....this year, it 'bout killed me!

Rick, don't feel alone. It happened several times to me before I learned to make sure a pre-cut board is well set in.

:o

We had one of those types of experiences cutting a triple opening double mat with a title plate. When it came time to cut the top mat, we adjusted the sizes of the openings, but failed to resize the title plate depth.....doh!!
