Does this look like Roma Tabacchino to you?

Sorry for the crummy picture, the color is totally OTL. This is a 4" moulding, the black stuff is a 5" liner. This is part of a framed Peter Lik photograph. The profile is a steep non-reverse.

Best match I can find is Roma Tabacchino but the Roma catalog shot looks smoother than the photo. Would appreciate confirmation from anybody familiar with Tabacchino. And are there other non-Roma candidates. Nice moulding, unfortunate name. THX.

This doesn't look like my Roma sample. You are right, the finish is smoother. However, these are veneered, so there is some variation from order to order. I would look at the CMI and International versions and see if you find a closer match.

Peter Lik's galleries frame his photographs in the Tabacchino. I had to swap out an ever-so-slightly damaged frame for a new one, and got to keep the old frame (which was about 50x72). Made a beautiful wall display. Never could resell it, though, and ended up abandoning it in the store when I closed the shop.

Sigh.

Thanks Paul. Looks like a really obnoxious moulding to deal with, would never have picked it myself. But it has great looks and if it doesn't kill me it will make me a stronger framer.

And take heart. Liked your Natalie Portman blog, she's a great actress and darned good looking too.
