Do they really think this will work?

Got this in my email this morning:

"GOOD MIRNING PICTURE FRAME
I M SMITH AND I WILL LIKE TO KNOW IF YOU DO SALES PICTURE FRAME.
...IF YOU DO REPLY ME BACK SO THAT I CAN LET YOU KNOW THE TYPE AND QUANTITY THAT I M ORDERING.
I HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU SOON.
Regards
SMITH
209 370 5304"

I got a similar one the other day but more detailed. Gave dimensions and quantities. Very poor english. They wanted to know how much and how I would accept payment. I was very tempted to respond with a rediculously high price and insist on full payment in CASH in advance. But then came to my senses and just deleted it.

I read recently that a Nigerian was arrested when he pulled this scam on an African country. Had their bank transfer funds to a number of offshore accounts before he was caught.

A few months ago "John Kennedy" emailed me and wanted to order 300 gold metal frames with navy blue mats, plexi, 30" x 40". As expected, the English was brutal. Said he would provide a credit card number when they were ready to ship and insisted we use a Nigerian based shipping company. Here's the best part - he said they were for a Nigerian orphanage. I guess they needed them for their movie poster collection. I quoted him $1,000,000 and never heard from him again. Hey, custom framing can be expensive!

DANG! HE SHOOPINK ME AROWND1

Another sign of the worsening economy. It's all about value. They're just looking for the best price, service and quality. God bless em.

Baer, haven't you gotten any price requests for shinny fabric?

I think we should reply "We will frame in trade for nigerian language lessons".

Don't just delete, string them along and play the game with them! I love messing with them. I figure if I can take away a moment of thier time by them taking time to e-mail back, well then maybe there will be one less sucker out there that does not get the e-mail.

If every one did this, maybe they would give up!

There's a web site somewhere out there that awards prizes for the best baiting replies to these dunderheads. One of the winners set himself out as "Sam Walton", and led the scammer on for weeks. It was the most hilarious series of e-mails I've ever seen.

I started doing this, and it was just pure fun.

I got the same email from KEVIN SMITH skevin@netzero.net. I get them weekly. If I have time, I like to toy with them like a cat playing with half dead mouse.

I reply with an outrageous quote then they always want to ship using their shipper who only takes Western Union or a bank draft.

I let it get to the point where they send me their credit card info. Then I tell them my requirments for international shipments.

Please provide the following information.
Full Name:
Full Billing Address:
Phone #:
Cell Phone #:
Credit Card #:
CCV #:
Expiration Date:
Bank Name:
Bank Address:
Bank Phone Number:
Image of the front and back of your credit card.

They are never able to produce image of the card or bank information. For some reason they always ask for the credit card approval codes. WTF?

Feel free to email him skevin@netzero.net
