distribution

Roma does. One of our local distributors, Framers Market has a few profiles.

On a side note, I buy Presto moulding through Don Mar. They have almost a complete line of what is identical to the Larson Kensington line for a lot Less.

Marc, I don't know of any Larson distributors, but Aspen Moulding (1-888-588-5467, in Indiana, maybe?) carries Roma. If they don't have the full line, it is awfully close.
zat help?

Oops, I better raise my prices!

I wonder if they sell anything online? NOT! ?

And hey, look at that, they are tring to sell their STUFF on Ebay. HAAAA! Good luck!

Now there is a good way to improve your business image.

Now we know where Marc spends his spare time when he is not here.

Well, color me silly, but I bought the cd for the measily $5. I will let you know what I think when I get it.

Marc I am no where the detective you are , but after some very simple investigateing from a VERY reliable source here is what I found out about this guy and LJ.
First his offers for chop and join are appx. 15% higher than Lj prices for the same items. Next LJ has no distributors here in the USA.His catalog is merely a scanning of the LJ catalog with the priceing stricture changed.
What he appears to hope to gain by this is to get the trade of those Framers who can't do trade with LJ at a 15% bonus. He is very probably getting the BEST volume rate any other shop can get and capitalizing on the volume and Shops who Have to have LJ but can't do business with them.
I hear that some others even do the same with Photographers and HB shops in other locations. But all in all this is nothing any other LJ Buyer with the best Priceing structure couldn't accomplish with a little bit of computer savy and a web site.Maybe he is doing the same for Roma as well.Does this help?

How can they copyright the reproduction of Larson's catalog??

I made an acrobat bookmarked cd of Larson's catalog to give my out-of-state artists a way to choose their mouldings for their framing that we do - I even offered the idea to my larson rep - guess nothing happened with that!! Never considered selling it due to legal issues and I'm not sure if I was supposed to scan it for my sales purposes. I wonder if what these people are doing is legal??? Companies are usually very particular about choosing how they distribute their products (I would consider the frameshops with Larson products their distributors) and that Larson sells direct.

my 2 cents!

Elaine

Elaine the copyright question is a very good point. I havent looked at the catalog nor the website.,and i didn't point that out nor ask about it. I do suppose that they aren't selling catalogs so that maybe a loop hole but then again if LJ wanted to raise a fuss it sure seems like it would be easy to make this operation change it's whole proccedure. But then why would they ? they are selling to the people they say they don't want to sell to without the headaches at no loss. The only peole loseing are the ones buying from this guy ,15% higher then they could be buying at.Go figure?

I stand corrected . As I said i didn't look at the site .I don't need an other LJ source as yet and I am one of their smallest accounts. Maybe while they are Lurking here they are asking questions there? But Until I have a need for LJ products at a 15% higher than normal premium and a $5 CD or a $20 Catalog that I already have I think I'll pass .

Wow.

What a coincidence.

I just noticed that "snafu" is one in the same as the e-bay auctioneers and the folks with the web-site.

Maybe after sanfu figures out the mounting problems they'll take a stab at the questions on this thread?

It truely is a small world after all.

Way to go Marc! I'd never have noticed.
I'm kinda like Buddy; I don't know how legal or illegal it is, but the word 'dualism' comes to mind...
But, I guess if folks want to pay 15% more, they have that 'option'.
You are truly the Sherlock Holmes of the G, and we're damned lucky to have you pointing out these things to us!!

No wonder our ol' boy Snafu is railing at the Republicans. Probably started this little thing as the economy was softening a bit.

Isn't it funny how administrations always get blamed for the economy--or praised for it--when in reality REAL economists know it has more to do with a multitude of other factors, not just who's in charge??

Where have you boys been?

Let's give the guy the benefit of the doubt.

Marketing a framing website to those who are hobbist's, artist's, home-based framer's, do-it-yourselfer's with or without a resale number fills a big niche for him as well as Roma and Larson. If you were trying to market to this group, where would you hang out? I doubt Roma or Larson are selling wholesale to him, just volume discounting, hence slightly elevated prices(probably to cover waste and handling), and 25% discounts. That would seem like a good deal to those who don't have access to these products. His clients are never likely to come to us anyway.

Or am I being snafued?

Buddy,

Marc is a pretty smart guy, and I believe that he knew this all along....... "I just noticed that "snafu" is one in the same as the e-bay auctioneers and the folks with the web-site." Marc just likes to stir the pot up a bit! :D

snafu has put together a pretty clever site that compliments his retail shop, and it appears that he's achieved this with LJ endorsement or support anyway.

If anyone really wants to find out more about his site and business.....I'd suggest they contact him:

Phone: 770-436-3047
Fax: 770-801-0703
Toll Free 1-877-726-4699

Store Hours: Monday thru Friday 10am to 6 pm
Saturday 9am to 5pm

John

Voice of reason, John. Can you teach it to me???

Maybe Marc's 'stirring the pot' is a way to make some of us, 'specially ME, see things as they really are.

This thread started before the United one (check the dates).

I was not reading the United thread. Too many long replies, so I was going to do it when I had some time to digest all the info and rants.

I sat down last night and slogged thru.

When I hit "profile" for snafu, I noticed it.

No detective work.

Seriously. An honest coincidnece that I just put 1 = 1 together.

However, as I think about it right now, I am guessing that The Grumble started showing up on his stats/weblogs. And he then came here. But this does now beg the question: Was the United thread just a snafu on United because they are the web-banner?

Kinda makes you wonder if the nome-de-plume was more prophetic than historical.

BTW, e-bay rules specifally say you are not allowed to have an auction that is just an auction for a catolog of products you sell.
For that matter, it is a violation to sell any current or valid catalog (sorry Charles, I can't sell you that Victorias Secret one, maybe in 3 years).

Only vintage catalogs are allowed.
