Currently I have my (Craftsman) wet/dry vac connected to my saw for dust collection. I hate cleaning the filter and it gets filled pretty quick. Does anyone know if someone makes a generic disposable bag for wet/dry vacs? I know "Shop-Vac" brand has a disposable bag.

How do any of you deal with saw dust?

Good morning Denny,

Can't answer the question about generic bags.

BUT, I exhaust the "homebrew" dust collector outside the back door with no bag at all. Most dust collector bags only catch the large particles & depend upon the bag to clog with those particles to achieve the specs for the smaller particles that are really bad for you. I try to catch most of the big particles in a trashcan size vortex separator before exhausting out the door and when the can gets 1/4 full or so, I just pour it into a plastic bag and toss it into the dumpster. The trashman gets upset and refuses to empty the dumpster if I just pour it straight to the dumpster & I can't say that I blame him.

I use my shop vac but my main use of the saw is for cutting aluminum mouldings. I’m not sure but I think the paper bag filter is generic.

If your set up is similar to mine, the waste collects in the drum itself and the filter just surrounds and protects the housing. Before I dump the drum, I just knock off the heavy junk from the filter by banging on it by hand. I haven’t changed the paper bag in years.

Grizzly 2hp double bag dust collector with a vortex chip collector (milled pine goes home for critter bedding). Will occasionally hitch the shop vac up to the metal cutting saw...for production work. No can liner....just dump when done.
