Any machine shop supply company can provide you with a vegetable based oil especially for machining aluminum. It us usually mixed 1 part oil with 30 parts water. You can mix it in a spray bottle and just squirt a blast on the blades before each cut or run it thru your saws spray system as usual

OBTW, I was told that the principle here is not to lubricate as such but to introduce a contaminate that prevents the molten aluminum from sticking to the blade.

"1 part oil with 30 parts water"

obviously it works for you BUT how you get the 2 to mix enough to form some sort of "protective" layer.....wouldnt a couple drops of detergent in your brew help emulsify the oil enough to make it work together (rather than a solution of its 2 parts)???

AND...isnt putting water (as in oil & water) onto a saw blade going to increase/promote rusting/premature life to the balde tips?? I dont fancy setting around towlung of a saw blde on top of all the other things needing top get done.

I use stick lube---NOT a great solution as it tends to get messy but I only need to clean the excess gunk occassionally

A film is built up on all parts after time. I too mix at a rate of 32:1 as per most recommendations from the manufacturers. Years ago these products used to be petroleum based. A gallon of concentrate used to cost about $10.

The only problem I have found is that surfaces become gummy over time and the metal chips tend to cling to the surfaces, making cleaning rather difficult.
