Anybody use Direct Moulding out of California? Good? Bad? Indifferent? I'm not familiar with them, but am tempted to procure a few samples from them.

Just ordered from them still have no samples yet.....But I was very pleased with my purchase. Seems like nice people to work with!

it took a while to get my samples from them... I'd say 3-4 weeks. And yes, they charge for their samples.

I haven't ordered from them yet, but they seemed nice talking with them over the phone. Samples look good too.

We use them regularly and find their service and quality to be excellent. Haven't tried the new rocker mouldings yet. Their 433 black is a great small poster moulding at an outstanding price.

I saw their samples at the WCAF show and they were closing out some Design Guild moulding at very competitive prices.

I ordered 3 boxes from them, it arrived very quickly and I was happy with the product.

Shipping to the East coast can be expensive, that's why I ordered 3 boxes. The price for shipping 3 boxes was just slightly more then the price to ship 1.

We purchased some of their corner samples, which came promptly, and a couple lengths of moulding. One length was damaged in shipping, and they promptly sent a new one out at no cost. I also like that when you call you immediately talk to a real, live ,person!

I ordered the samples in Las Vegas, rec'd them and they are now on the wall.
If no one buys any in the next week, I am going to buy some for MYSELF, for ME, to take home. Supersexy, smokin' hot, yumyumyum. Mine!

Now that's one heck of a recommendation Edie. I may have to check them out based on that!!!!

I bought the skull samples from them, put them up and sold one within 2 weeks. I ordered chop and had a good experience. Only thing is they don't do routing/wedging. The moulding was perfect, though, and the frame went together perfectly.

Good to hear. I saw their ad in PFM and nearly fell off my chair when I saw the crazy skull frames. They look great. Who knows if that would sell in my area, but it's certainly worth a shot. They are so different from anything else I've seen in quite a while.

Steve Hegseth, the man behind Direct Moulding (or should I say directly behind Direct Moulding) is a wonderful person and is as honest as the day is long. He was a picture framer, worked for years for Larson Juhl (he was my rep - and a darn good one) and was also at Crescent Carboard and La Marche. Bottom line - he is committed to this industry.

Direct Moulding sources its mouldings at the same places that most moulding companies do and some of their mouldings come from the exact same factories that other, more well known companies are using. They are direct importers.

Their quality is outstanding and the prices are also excellent - so much so that you can price aggressively as a value line if needed, but can also retail them for what other similar mouldings from other moulding companies would sell for at a better wholesale cost.

Their new line of automotive finshes is HOT!

I have to call them about the skull frames - there are an awful lot of old punk rockers and bikers round here and if I can drag them away from buying more Harleys and tats, they will love this stuff!

I have a VERY mixed experience.

I specifically searched them out at WCAF. Steve impressed me, as did the artist Dennis. My samples came as soon after they got their final shipment of mouldings.
I had called and talked to Rich who runs the shop. We talked and was greatly impressed with his customer service. We talked about their rep for the NW.... or lack there of..... [yes they have one and no, nobody I have talked to has seen Lynn, nor has she called anyone.]

The day after I got back from WCAF, I was visiting one of my favorite framers, who happens to do a metric butload of framing for a huge Tat house in Seattle (second capital of Tattoos in the nation). I called Rich, introduced them and she gave her credit card #........

Yesterday, Thursday I stopped in and they were framing 9 more pics for the "Tat Boys". Including four covers of Tattoo World that had their art on the cover......... "Here, frame em, and let us know how much..." (yeah; one of those kinds of customers.... )

"Where are the Tat Frames???"
"The samples never came."  ??????

Called and talked to a "Marty".

"We don't have any record of her. If she wants to go on line and fill out the credit app and her information we could maybe get her some samples out next month." Excuse me???? You LOST her CC info and now if she jumps through your hoops you might feel magnanimous and grant her a set?????

If this guy worked for me; he wouldn't work for me.

The Pacific Northwest has more Tattoo parlors than Los Angeles, San Francisco, and NY area combined.
The World Tattoo Convention will be held next month here in Seattle
Dark Horse comics and 37 other "alternative" comic book publications are in Portland & Seattle.

Steven..... If you listening..... fire Marty and give Rich a raise and so REAL help instead of a "9mm slug or three through the left foot".

But then.... that's just my "humble" opinion and experience.

On Wednesday, there were two people interested in Avanti Gallery becoming a strong user of your Tribal series....... sadly, it's now seemingly down to zip.

It's really a pity, because I was going to get Wendy to do the framing for the article I was looking to place in Iron Horse and Tattoo World.

Guess I'll be carving some new molds next week.......
