I am interested in hearing about any Direct Mail ideas.
2 years ago we used a service called Homeowners Marketing Services. We received monthly mailing labels of new home owners in our area. It worked fairly well for us (about a 3% response rate). We were supplied with labels but then had to address post-cards, welcome letters etc and it was too costly. Now we use a company called RSVP. They send out a shrink wrapped bundle of cards to "affluent" home owners. This seems to be working quite well for us as an economical shot-gun approach. We also send post cards a few times per year to our past customers and this seems to generate interest. Does anyone use a newsletter? Art shows? Guest speakers? Share your thoughts?! What works, what doesn't.

The only type of direct mail-type of offering we use is a bounce back offer. If a client spends $150 or more on custom framing, we send a personally addressed thank you card from the sales staff offering them 15% off the next framing job. We see average of 15% return to a customer that we know. We think it builds loyalty and shows our appreciation. A little consideration sometimes can pay dividends; just like telling your wife you love her. We all know how powerful that can be.
