I would like to know if its possible to paint over a few parts of a digital print on canvas??
I have a customer that wants to buy my prints without the protection gloss on them so he can do just that...paint a few parts to give it a different look...
Is that possible?
I would assume it is ....but just asking if anyone has done that before?

I have personally drawn onto digital prints with Prismacolor pencils and I have seen artists who add metallic effects with gold and silver pens - I would experiment before slathering on a whole lot of water-based paint - maybe coating the print first with Matte spray? This would act as a fixative for the digital ink and give a good base upon which to add paint.

I assume it can be done because I have seen it done. Hand embellished giclee on canvas is quite common. You may want to check with the tech support where you buy you canvas to see which kinds are best suited for the application.

I have painted on digital prints for over 5 years. I use water clean up oils. I like this as a way to create a painting with out any talent. It is almost like paint by numbers but a less cheesy.

It is possible. Just remember that the coating on the canvas is meant to receive ink, not paint. I've heard of cases of both extremes, some paint lasting years and some 'cracking' within weeks of application. I would make sure tests are done, and as always with canvas prints, make sure that it's coated afterwards. Good luck.

I'm confused. Is it the customer's art that you are printing? Or, it sounds like it's your art that you're printing that the customer wants to change.

You're free to do with your art as you wish, and people can change art without the artist knowing about it, but I don't know if I'd really want someone else changing my art.

its photos ive taken in europe and i sell to people...
this customer has a gallerie that sells real paintings and likes my pictures...
his idea is for me to sell him my prints on canvas and for him to add some paint over them and sell them as a digital /painting....something like that...the pictures are all taken by me...and he has several art galleries so if he orders he will order a lot....

Nah, "Hokey" like in the "Hokey Pokey" (where you put your left foot in, etc...).

This reminds me of the old joke with the punch line "What team did she play for?"
