Just got back from a cruise to Ensenada Mexico, and on the boat they had an art auction put on by Park west Galleries. Framed samples were on display through out the ship. The more expensive pieces were framed with a 3/8 or 1/2 inch deep bevel mat covered in one piece of white or black linen no seams a gold wood fillet then floated on a linen backing. My question is what is the matting material and how does one mount the fabric to get the inside corners tight witout bubbles or wrinkles. Also what adheasive is used wet paste or spray glue.

Maybe they used one of those flat liner profiles (they are made out of wood and covered with cloth) that you can get from FalconEast, Frank's Fabrics, Framing Fabrics, and others.

The glue used could have been Might Muk from FalconEast or fabric adhesive from UMS. There could be other possibilities.

Hello,

We always use 3/16 Foam Cor. Cut the bevel, then use 3M 77 spray, Attach fabric to your mat And trim up to the edge carefully Wrap around the back with adhesive. Put drop back in to opening. Place in vacumm press cold for a few minutes. It will always come out if you are careful. Another alternative is to attach a foam cor to the back of the mat and do not trim fabric, but smooth on the mat carefully and smooth on to the back , do as other mat This is a great look when you need to float a piece with the edge of print floated.
