Hi Johnny,
I have a drapery place next door and they have those thicker tassles and ropes...perhaps your local drapery place will too.

United Mfgrs still sells them I believe.

I've found similar ropes/tassels at my local fabric store as well. I'm assuming the rope/tassels are just decorative and not the way the frame is actually hung on the wall...

zomg that was the first place I looked. I'm United'sCatalogSearching Challenged. I'll call them to see what's up.

Thank you guys!

And Dawn, I'm also going to check out a drapery store. Thank you! Do you guys find yourselves getting more and more drawn into being interior, well I was going to say interior designers but I'm sure I'd tick off any actual designers who would say "Ummmm, maybe Interior Decorator on your best day, bub."

The art goes to the frame goes to the furniture goes to the wall color goes to the drapery. I've been standing there in their homes and they start asking questions and I think "Wow, you think I'm a designer." and if the mood strikes I run with it. Probably a lot like running with scissors. But hey, I'm not ASID but I did sleep on a used Holiday Inn Express surplus sale matress last night, so why not?

Often I go out to clients homes to help them pick out art and framing and just to see their environment for future work. Many times they want me to get involved and offer to pay me for my time to help pick out everything from paint and wall coverings to fabrics for draperies and reupholstering furniture. I've always declined to make those kind of decisions and refer them to one of my interior design clients.

I am flattered by their trust in my design capabilities and am willing to give my personal opinion, but where do you draw the line? I don't feel right charging nor do I feel qualified. More often than not they just need to be reassured that their choices are good choices.

I think I'll copy this and start a new thread with it ...I'd like to know others experiences.

Johnny,
yup, I do find myself working on making the "room" look just right...but in my heart Im all about the art and can usually find a happy balance. Went next door and they had a nice selection of ropes and tassles. I actually think I will display some of this. My thinking is to run the hanging wire through the rope. I have a mirror in my guest bathroom that has hung that way for years. Hope you find just the right thing for this customer and it leads to more and more for you.

We sell the ones from United... and our people do use them to hang the pictures from because they have a wire running through them.
We have 14,000+ homes with in 6 miles that have 'picture rail' or 'picture moulding' and we also sell the moulding hooks... by the hand full.

Rejuvenation sells the same hooks we sell for $.25 for $4.99, so go figure.

Thanks guys. I'll call United and find out what the item numbers are. I really don't think it's in their catalog.

Thank you for the very kind reponse Dawn.

It is good to know that United's ropes have wire running through them. I didn't know that and have only used decorative rope from my local fabric store. Thanks for that piece of info, Baer.
