For fun, and Grumble pride, can anyone tell me the graphic designers name that is responsible for the unmistakable "I love new York" logo? </font>[/QUOTE]Not sure if this will help, but this link lists some info on it:

NOT planning on going this year. Will go to Vegas and don't expect anything newer in NY that my reps won't show me.

I'll be there. Been a few years since I was able to make one so am looking forward to it.

I'm going, I've been to most of the NY shows the last dozen years or so, not my favorite but well worth the trip. This year I hope to make Atlanta, I prefer that show.

We watched it shrink about ~20%(?) per year in the past few years, so we probably won't be going this year. A lot of important vendors were missing last year, but the key players attended. We'll truly miss the opportunity to visit our reps.

We will, however, be doing Vegas and Atlanta. This will be our first Vegas show and third Atlanta show.

There seems to be a definite relationship with distance and participation

For those of us beyond a few hour car ride, it will be interesting to see who goes. Or, more accurately, how many vendors will be added from last years show

The worst thing about the NY show is the weather. Can't tell you how many times there has been a major snowstorm during it or right before. Makes it exciting in that northeast kind of way.
Was there a new "NY" show last fall or was that a rumor I heard. If so did anyone go and what was your perception of it.?

Steph

Steph,

There was one at the piers.

Not many vendors or paticipants. For the most part I think people were watching it to see if it was going to be a success or a flop before they committed to the expense.

The show management said next year will be larger and better overall.

Being in the NY area we've always gone to the NY shows. Trying to do a last minute fling to Vegas but too many other things are getting in the way. If not Vegas then Atlanta.

As Mike mentioned the NY show has been slowly disintegrating over the years due to the competetive squabbles with ArtExpo and then the worst ... collaborating with them. The original (DecorExpo?) people are trying to resurrect the old "framing only" part which was initiated in Nov '05 but both the vendor participation and the show attendee's were very low. Everyone was apprehensive and was waiting to see what everyone else was going to do and what happened. I only hope that it gets back to the old format and splits with ArtExpo! For the circumstances and for what it was, it wasn't too bad ... if you were local or wanted to have a drink in NYC, but I wouldn't have traveled cross-country yet to attend!

Hmmm... might attend. Checked out the accommodations on the site... anyone familiar with the New Yorker Hotel (a Ramada) - it's very reasonable for NYC...

i want to go to vgas, but it is going to be to hard to get to. i really wanted to meet bob abd baer, so i think next year i will do vagas-ny this year
