July PFM Wizard Ad says that the Debossing package is now a standart feature with the 8500.

Now to find out the cost if you already have one, and if its works and cost for the 8000. What about renters, what's the upgrade there?

I'm sure all of these questions and more will be answered shortly and probably faster here than in the trades.

Check out the wizard site for samples of Brian Wolfs debossing work. There are 3 sizes of debossers and Yes it will work with your 8000. I have been told that it will do fonts as small as 1/4". So all those designs that you couldn't cut because the curves were to small for the blades now become available.

It is curious that Wizard has taken so long to offer a debossing tool. I thought it was among the best standard features of the F-6100 when I bought mine in 2002. Still do.

The Fletcher/Valiani machines have six different cutting heads, including a debossing tool. The wheels of progress keep turning, eh? As versatility, durability and prices stabilize among the CMC makers, software may be the biggest difference among them nowadays.

There doesn't appear to be anything specific on the Wizard site as to prices, availability etc beyond the statement that the debossing tool will be available next month.

I think it will be a really useful addition to the machine. Many of the mixed v-groove designs look cool on the screen but are less than perfect when cut, even after a bit of cleaning up with a blade. there is also the issue of the paper delaminating if the cuts are too close together.

Debossing designs will, I think, be a more subtle embellishment than cut lines, especially in smooth surfaced matts.

So long as the price isn't over the top I will be putting my order in as soon as my rep tells me it is available.

I doubt it will generate as much excitement as the iPhone, but it should be a nice addition. I had to literally step over a couple of people in line outside an ATT store today in order to get to my morning mocha.

Regarding the subtle treatments a debosser can make, we have been using V- grooves on solid core rag boards and the results are beautiful. Even those are not easy to see unless you are in the right light.

Bump

I'd like to bump this back up and see if anyone has purchased the debossing package/experimented with it. I'm very interested in using this tool to create prepackaged mat designs with my scraps, and selling at reduced costs. In a previous thread, I had some trouble cutting letter mats with a large amount of text on something small, say an 8" x 10". The debossing tool would accomodate this amount of text with more precision.

Any ideas? Anybody out there using it?

Another vote for debossing for the 5000

My wizard 5000 works perfectly fine for me and I have no reason to give it up. I sure wish that the debossing feature worked for the 5000. Any hopes for me?
