Dear Crescent;
I know numbers are the name of the game
and people are replaceable
(at least in small change)
and "business is business" is the reason they give
but business needs people to make it live.
"It's a business decision" - as if this is enough
when corporate companies decide to snuff.
"Times are tough" "Tough times call for tough decisions" -
excuse me if I question your corporate vision.
Who brought the products into our stores?
Who answered our questions, helped us endure?
Who supported our triumphs, supported our hopes?
It wasn't "the boss",
It was the company reps, you dopes!
Marketing and promotion can't cut the mustard
when products are deteriorating and customer service lackluster.
Hard times are everywhere.
Money is tight.
But where you cut corners shines a bright light.
"It's nothing personal" we're always told.
But it's #### personal to me as one in the fold
who believes that business can't be completely tallied
with dollars and cents and graphs of recessions and rallies.
People matter in ways data can't calculate in,
the "human factor" is where business begins.
Yes, I know numbers are the name of the game
and people are replaceable
(at least in small change)
and "business is business" is the reason they give
but business needs people to make it live.
Yours,
