I called Dahle a few days ago to get a price on the acrylic guard. To be on the safe side, the safety guard needed to be replaced because a fairly large piece of it broke off. The price? $210.00  ! Plus about $30.00 shipping! FORGET IT DAHLEing :fire: ! A piece of 1/8" x 24" x 48" costs me less than 20 bucks (I always keep a couple of 1/8" x 48" x 96" sheeets in stock for framing.). Using the damaged one as a pattern, i traced it, cut it out, sanded the corners, drilled the holes and mounted it in place. Time: 45 minutes. Money saved: 220 bucks! What a shame.. what are they thinking?

The safety guard on my Dahle cutter is a great big steel "sail". It would be pretty hard to break.

I understand, Mitchel. I'm just saying that, fortunately, this isn't a problem I'll be facing anytime soon. I'm glad you found a creative solution to replacing yours.

The only problem with the steel guard (besides it being ugly) is that if you bang into it it makes quite a racket.
