I sold two of these yesterday at $ 50.00 each. I call them Da-V's and it's a great way to get rid of old moulding corner samples or left over length. The only additional cost to make these is ordering the brass plates which run about $ 5.00.

I'm making them up ahead of time because the headache of sorting through samples and waiting on a customer eats up any profit you might make. The customer can pick one out and then order a brass plate.

They can be used as seasonal decorations, on doors instead of wreaths, or as identifying signage in commercial applications.

Coating with an acrylic matte varnish helps preserve them outdoors, but most entry doors are protected from the elements anyway.

It also is a better way to recycle than just burn piling them.

noticed the brick walll...is this outside or inside...won't hold up well outside would they?

The one pictured is outside my store and exposed except for an overhang. It's been out for two years and except for the brass plate showing some wear and tear it's held up fine. I could polish the plate and wash the moulding to brighten it up more. This one was not acrylic varnished but the ends were sealed with black acrylic paint.

Geesh Dave! Your post is about two weeks late! I got a cleaning bug and threw away boxes of big wide moulding samples I"d had since I opened.
What a great idea! What does your brass plate say?

... What does your brass plate say?

The one pictured just has my shop name on it... "Makielski Art Shop".

The ones I sell to individuals would probably have "The Jones Family" or the like.

Dave,
What kind of hanging hardware do you use for those?
Your photos look like they are flush to the brick wall?

Regards,
Troy

Troy, I just used a small sawtooth hanger.

Whenever possible the moulding combination should be as flush in the back as possible.

Also I just glued the two mouldings together. Several that I've done needed to be nailed and/or spacers used to make them sit right. Each combination just needs to be played with to get a good look and fit.
