I am wondering if anyone has seen the double team jerseys sold now - they are two halves of a team jersey sewn together? The seam is usually on the back centre, showing different team colors on each side.

How would that effect the value - do you think we could offer that? It seems that if we are worried about mounting methods that "damage" the jersey, we certainly shouldn't be offerring a service of cutting & sewing the jersey.

It might be okay if its a relatively comon jersey & the customer signs a waiver. Do you think that the person whose nae appears on the jersey (and who signed it) has anything to say - any rights to what we do to the jersey?

A parallel question is, What if a customer only wanted 2 frames - one with the front of the jersey, the other with the back - should offer to cut the jersey?

I am interested if any one has experience with this, and what your thoughts are!

Safest bet might be to let the customer do the cutting.

'Course, we've seen what happens when the customer cuts those newspaper articles.

Most of these I have seen have not been signed. The ones that have been were signed after the jersey was cut & sewn. I would not cut a signed jersey that belonged to a customer any more than I would cut someones original watercolor.

Even with their permission, I would be reluctant to cut the fabric. You would most likely have to sew a seam to keep it from fraying – something I neither have the talent nor inclination to do.

Most of these Jerseys that I have seen are manufactured and sold that way as shown here:

I think it would be a pretty risky experiment on a customers pride and joy. As far as cutting it to show the front and back I think that would be crazy... buy a second jersey. As far as the persons name on the Jersey goes and whether he has any rights... you can throw it on your back and change the oil in your car with it if you own it so if you get the urge to chop it then so be it.

I recently framed this look... It was the high school jerseys of a local athlete. The two colors (for those who do not know) are 'home game' and 'away game' jerseys. I attached them at the center fold with a running stitch and then stitched the two folded halves down as usual. It was a thicker look than 'standard' jerseys, but the customer was thrilled and I made some money. Good combo.

Ellen did same as you but did not stitch together!`
Cut a thin slot in the center of the mount board and pulled half each jersey through!~ worked great and when you stitched the front you did the back at the same time same place!~ The tightness of the slot even helps hold the taughtness in the jerseys!~ Both jerseys in tact same amont of stitches!~
