I am framing the cover of my Taekwondo instructors new book, and I would like to incorporate the the um-yang design in the mat. Maybe you know it as the yin-yang sign.
I am doing a triple mat, black top and then blue and red, which will be the two colors of the um-yang.

Thanks for listening
Nancy

good one Bob :D

The moulding I'm using is the thin Nurre Maya 54008, but I probably missed a joke there somewhere and you aren't really asking about the moulding....I am so slow today.

No I was serious about the moulding, just wise cracking about the onions.

The Maya are a great looking line aren't they? Although there probably is some joke about them self destructing in 2012 thatI haven't heard yet...

Well, I am closing up for the evening, but I look forward to all your brilliant suggestions tomorrow, cause I have to have this done by Wed. evening for the book signing.
By the way, anyone else do Taekwondo training?

Nancy, check your cut art files in Mat Designer. I have the ying yang symbol in the Holiday 3 folder. Looks like it can be modified for your use. You will want to cut it twice, once with each color, then you can do an inlay to get the bicolor design you want.

I did it!!!

Paul, I am happy to report that it worked! With some modification and a little I don'tknowwhatI'mdoingbutmaybethiswillwork.
Cut the um-yang in the black top mat, then cut one red and one blue symbol and dropped them into the cutout in the top mat.... it looked seamless.
I gave the finished piece to Master Cook before I remembered to take a pic, but I will tonight at the book-signing.

This will be my first "show everybody" piece.

Thanks for your help
