I need to cut a mirror down and then frame it...do I cut the mirror face uup (where I see myself or face down. I know its a dumb question...but there it is...Thanks...Sherry

Yes.

I mean "yes, cut the reflective side" not "yes, it is a dumb question."

The other side has the silvering.

And I could be wrong. THEN who would be the dumb one?

You may end up better off asking a local glass supplier to cut it for you. The 1/4" thick plate glass most mirrors are made with can be a real pain to cut, even with a nice Fletcher wall-mounted cutter. It'll score, but snapping it can be pretty difficult and the results unpredictable.

If it's the thin stuff, go for it. No problems. But yes, have the reflective side toward you as Ron said.

Face up. Score, put the score line to the edge of the work bench and SNAP. Don't just "apply pressure" it only irritates the glass..... one quick SNAP! and it's done.

If your cutting an oval: also score the relief cuts and remember about where they are, as you turn the mirror face down and apply pressure into a soft surface such as carpet. You can feel and hear the scores run.

If these don't work for you, there's always the phone.
