Ok, weird request. Customer brought in 2 porthole picture frames from Carnival Cruiseline. They are made of resin, witha 'plaque' molded into the bottom , about 3/4 " x 5", but it is curved to follow the shape of the porthole. Customer wants to cover that with a real brass plaque (right now it says 'Carnival', he would rather have the year of the cruise on there). I tried Sign Design, but she didn't think they could do it. Any ideas?

Is the curved plaque the same width as the moulding? If not, you might be able to get a large rectangular plaque that would cover the old one.

You might need to visit your local trophy shop and see if they could customize something for you.

Checked my people and they don't do that either since the brass plaques are cut with dies.

You might try either of the following who make wood gold leaf plaques. More expensive, but possibly more customizable.

Good luck!

Diane,

Find someone who has a 30 watt or stronger laser engraver that will penetrate brass nameplate stock. If you supply an accurate sized drawing of what your customer wants, I am sure that most engraving shops that do laser engraving can handle the shape and the lettering.

If you don't have any luck, PM me and I'll give you my friend's email. He does all that kind of kinky stuff for me. He even scanned in a photo of the outside of my gallery in So. IL and laser engraved it into a piece of brass on black nameplate material for me! That material was a "plastic" brass but it turned out great!

Try Quality House. They make all types of nameplates for us out of brass.
