hello all,
i know that crescent has been phasing out tvue for sometime but didn't know they were getting rid of the majority of international whites. can someone post a list of items that crescent is let running out? i know of 3450, 3451, 3437, and 3342 which are not on any discontinued lists. all of the suppliers have it in their system but are unwilling to share for fear that we will stop selling...now why would we stop selling something that might not be available? i have about had it with some of these suppliers. thanks for any help.

Sorry, this isn't going to help you a bit, but I'd be curious about how many Grumblers have ever used the Miller/Tru Vue/Crescent International White boards.

I was aware of their existence, but don't think any of my regular distributors carried them even when they were still Miller.

What are they?

I use them....I have samples for about 100 of them (give or take a few). My main supplier still has all of these in stock.

Maybe I should clarify a little on this. They have them in stock, but I have also been forewarned by my supplier that the five digit ones were being discontinued (the faux leathers, library leathers, etc). They just still have plenty of them in stock or are able to get them 'til they're gone is what I am assuming.

If someone would like to tell me how to post an excel document on here I have a list of everything they plan on discontinuing in June. Most of the five digit numbers or anything made on a classic black or classic white core was discontinued at the end of 2003.

I have used them. I have a supplier that carries them. The colors are pretty rough but the textured mats are priceless. In fact the library leathers and woodlands are already gone from that line (according to the supplier). I miss them and they don't carry the rag ones.

While we are on the subject I would like to let yall in on a bit of my madness. I'm very skeptical that the international white boards were ever one tiny bit different from the alpha boards. Well of coarse the number on the back is different but I think that’s where the differences stop. I've not seen the cores age any differently. Can any science junkies out there tell me for sure these are different boards?

Ultimat is a lignin free core, buffered board.
International white is a non-conservation white core.

According to the Crescent specifier, both int'l white and ultimat are fade and bleed resistant with the surface, core, and backing paper buffered with calcium carbonate to a ph level of 8.0-9.0%. Ultimat is 100% virgin alpha-cellulose surface, core and backing; lignin-free and acid-free. Int'l white is decorative surface paper and stay-white core. Int'l white could still be the same as ultimat with a different number.

What does all that REALLY mean?

Area 51 & grassy knoll come to mind.

Yep Sue, thats exactly what I'm talking about. I'm not convinced there is a difference.

I have used these boards for years and like Jay, I feel like there is no difference.

I had a job return the other day with broken glass that I framed 9 years ago with Miller Int White Core mats and the bevels looked just as perfect as the day they were cut.

The specifications say blah blah, the science proves blah blah, I know what I have observed over the years.

I almost cried when I heard Crescent bought out the TruVue line. I knew things would change.

I hear you on Crescent buying them. Isn't it ironic how they keep those horrible colors and start dropping those great textures....like Woodlands!!!!

I'm pretty sure the library leathers and Woodlands lines were dropped long before Crescent was involved. At least in my part of the world they were. Still hurts that they are gone.....

Well thats another part of the problem that really ticks me off. Since these matboard companies and some moulding companies don't have one ounce of respect for their customers, they just run out of product. Suppliers then don't tell you until they run out of product. So you might have suppliers still carrying the lines. I have ZERO and I mean NO respect when it comes to this aspect of this business.

Could you imaging a Ford Dealership selling a new Mustang only to find that FORD quit making them and has run out? That happens to us about 14 times a year.
