Help!! I am doing 2 pieces for a customer to match a piece I did in 2004. I order in the matboard, but am looking at it as I am working with it... thinking this isn't the correct color... even though I copied the old ticket exactly.

I call and ask her to bring her old one in... and lo and behold... it is not even close.

The original had C63305 English Stone/blackcore. I ordered this now, and the color is much more pinky rather than stony looking...

I had the two mats with double openings cut and knew something was amiss.

I looked at my current swatch books and what is actually closer is the Crescent Rag 1668/61668.

Has anyone else had this color issue? If so, what did you do?

Help!

Roz

I've always thought of English Stone as a "pinkish" neutral. I use it on portrait photos a lot. Just a thought: are you looking at the old example through the glass and the new stuff not? The glass definitely cools down the perceived color on that stuff. Hey...if it HAS changed, maybe you could cool it down by using a double layer of glass.
 Rick

Rick.... isn't it wierd!!?!! It changed... why do they do this! I guess two layers of glass will help!!

It appears as a nice color for your use with portraits!!

Thanks...
