I specked out mats for a watercolor that included Crescent 1114 almond ragmat solid. It turns out the Crescent corner sample [from Crescent] was mis-marked, and it was really Crescent 1174 beige, not Crescent 1114 almond.
I realized the problem after I cut the 1114 I ordered, to size and laid it out next to the artwork, and it was too warm / red. I went through my other ragmats and found the Crescent corner samples 1174 and 1114 were identical.
I've had these samples about 4 years. You might want to check if your Crescent 1114 and 1174 are identical in color; if so, then your beige order may end up being almond instead.
Now I'm making up my own 1114 Almond sample from the extra mat I now have. What is interesting is was looking for this color earlier, and would have used it on another order.
Mistakes happen, but at least I caught it before I finished the mat.
