The approval codes on credit card sales are generally six digits. Occasionally we get a code that is five digits follwed by the letter B. Anyone know why this is, or if it has any significance?

I’ve had a bunch of “B”’s this week, too.

I think ‘cause there are only 1,000,000 possible numbers for a six digit code, they ran out.

There must be a whole lot of people running up their charge cards this week.

Actually, whenever I get one with a letter at the end it usually is an A. Sometimes a B.

Rick, maybe the "A" is assumed?
We all know what happens when one ***-u-mes. </font>[/QUOTE]Am I to assume you are correct?!

Happy Holidays Jerry and fellow Grumblers. I've enjoyed our heated and witty tete-a-tetes!
