Jane Seymour Honors Two High School Artists at
Creative Self-Expression Event in Santa Monica

Teenage artists are winners in national art competition sponsored by

The Great Frame Up®

Two of the nation’s finest high school artists traveled to Santa Monica earlier this summer to be recognized as national winners in the Creative Self-Expression contest sponsored by The Great Frame Up, a custom framing and art retailer.

A $2,000 scholarship was presented to each winner by actress and accomplished artist Jane Seymour, spokeswoman for the Creative Self-Expression® Foundation, during a luncheon and awards presentation in Santa Monica.

The national competition, sponsored annually by The Great Frame Up, is designed to cultivate and promote the arts and creative thought among teenagers.

“The Creative Self-Expression Foundation’s goal is to provide high school artists with an outlet to express themselves through whatever medium inspires,” said Lisa Baker, Senior Marketing Manager for Franchise Concepts, Inc.

“The response we received from students across the country was overwhelming, and the talent displayed by the participants was extraordinary,” continued Baker. “A quality in these two pieces stood out to our judges as exceptional.”

The artists submitted entries to their local The Great Frame Up stores where they were judged by a panel of local art professionals and displayed for the community. The work of each local finalist was then sent to the corporate office of Franchise Concepts, Inc. where a panel of judges including Seymour selected the two national winners.

The 2010 winners, their hometown and entry are:

· Sean Guenette, Jupiter, FL, “Self Portrait” (lead pencil)
Sean is a recent graduate of Jupiter High School. Sean said, “this piece was inspired by my desire to make a self portrait that combined my drawing ability and love for photography. My passion for art has been inspired by my family. I have artists on both sides of my family and got into art long before I could read or write.”

Sean plans to attend Savannah College of Art and Design to pursue a degree in industrial design.

· Julie Storrs, Spokane, WA “In The Light of Hope,” (pastels)
Julie competed and won this award as a Junior at East Valley High School. Julie said she has always had a passion for art. Her art for this piece was inspired by a photograph taken by a friend on a mission trip in Africa. “I was instantly drawn in by the colors and emotions of the little girl” said Storrs. Julie cannot wait to return to class this fall and continue to practice and grow her artistic talents.
